Natural Fibres
Erin, Jayde and Marnie
This term our class has been studying Natural Fibres. The 3 topics that our team have chosen are Silk, Abaca and Cotton. We have chosen these fibres to study as we really knew very little about them. We have visited an Alpaca farm where we learnt how they get the wool from the animals and then what they do with the fibre.

Knitting
We have been knitting squares to make cot blankets for an orphanage in China. We all enjoyed learning how to knit. This is a skill we can always use later on in life.
Art
Some of our batik fish
In art we learnt how to do batik. This is painting on cotton fabric where you draw your picture on the fabric first and then paint wax on the the areas you do not want to colour. When dry you have to iron the wax out. We made fabric fish.
